A sportsman-instructor of the Polar chess school Pavel Potapov won the silver medal at the stage of the Cup of Russia in the rapid chess, which was held in Ulan-Ude. A total 682 chess players from Russia, Spain and Mongolia competed in the tournament.
According to the coach of the Salekhard chess school Alexander Potapov, in the group of young men Pavel scored 11 points. At the same time, three sportspeople scored the same number of points at the finish. According to the additional indicators, the victory went to the international master from Berdsk Semyon Khanin, and the bronze is on the account of the grandmaster Artyom Timofeyev from Kazan. In addition, the tournament gave additional points to Pavel, and now he has a good chance of getting into the final of the Russian Cup in the rapid chess.
The world team championships for men and women are taking place in Astana. Alexandra Goryachkina is playing within the Russian women’s quartet. According to the results of the sixth round, the Russian sportswomen are taking the second place, while the Chinese sportswomen are ahead. The world team championship will be completed on the 15th of March.
