“The world is changing, and we are changing together with it”. The vice governor is congratulating the media community of Yamal

On the 19th of April the vice governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Irina Sokolova congratulated journalists of Yamal with the Day of Yamal mass media. This historical date was started with the issue of the first newspaper “Rybak” (fisherman) in 1931. Today mass media of Yamal is the complex of high technological productions, qualified specialists, who operatively and truthfully create the informational picture, inform about important decisions of the power and help people in difficult situations.
“The world is rapidly changing. An event that did not appear in the informational space did not happen. And one recorded in the media is unconditionally taken on faith. The new reality dictates its conditions. And we should correspond to them. It is necessary to change approaches, to conduct re-structuring, to search for new forms of communication, modern mechanisms of bringing information to the society. This work should be started today. Tomorrow will be late”, as Irina Sokolova said in her speech.
Also she underlines that journalists of Yamal adhere to the principle of justice, do not try to profit on feelings of people, do not chase the “black” sensation. Exactly the balanced approach and proven information are most valuable in today’s fast-paced world, where people do not have time for meditation and reflection.
Specifics of the region is reflected in mass media of Yamal: big attention is paid to cultural and ethnic diversity, delicate issues of preservation of traditions, unity of the civilization and the long-century way of life of indigenous population are presented competently and accurately.
156 mass media organizations are registered on the territory of Yamal today: 43% — municipal and 7% — regional. The number of specialists working in the budgetary sphere of this branch makes 1678 people. Mass media of Yamal give more than 23 hours per day of television content and more than 83 hours per day of radio materials, almost one million copies of issued periodicals and more than 20 million A3-size printed pages.
The stage of creation of technical conditions for joint broadcasting of regional and municipal television programs was completed in 2018. Fulfillment of this project is important today, when the switch to digital broadcasting of central TV channels took place.
The technological site of the regional printing office was created in Noviy Urengoy. The opportunity considerably to increase quality and effectiveness of distribution of municipal newspapers without rising in cost of production appeared, as earlier in Noyabrsk.
The International congress “Arctic Media World” took place in 2018. The creative international platform uniting representatives of media industry of the Arctic, leading experts, scientists and politicians was created for discussion of important issues of development of arctic territories.
“The task of the journalist community is not to lose the achieved creative and potential contacts for interaction, also to continue full-scale informational advancement of key projects of the Russian Arctic, positioning of policy of the Russian Federation in the sphere of the Arctic and policy of the Autonomous Okrug as the center of the Russian Arctic, the leader of economic development and fulfillment of social programs, preservation and development of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North”, as the vice governor said in the conclusion.
She wished journalists for new creative ideas, interesting topics, bright and non-standard approaches to presentation of information.
