The President allocated the grant for the virtual travel to the Nenets nomadic camp

The director of the Gubkinskiy Museum of the North Development Yelena Kalitenko will receive the grant of the President of Russia. Grants are given for support of creative projects of nationwide significance in the sphere of culture and art.
Gubkinskiy Museum of the North Development will spend the funds to implementation of the project “The virtual travel to the Nenets nomadic camp as a mean to preserve culture of a small ethnic group through VR technology”.
Neighborhood of the town Gubkinskiy is homeland of forest Nenets people. The Museum is already fulfilling projects related to study of culture, language, history, traditions and lifestyle of indigenous peoples of the North. Among them there is an Internet project “Study language of forest Nenets people together with Ilku and Nikutsi”. A boy Ilku and a girl Nikutsi are personages of the cartoon “Taiku, the traveler” created in the Museum of the North Development. The young inhabitants of the forest Nenets nomadic camp will tell in their native language about the severe and beautiful land, its nature, flora and fauna, about everyday life and traditions of the northern people.
The Museum already has experience in organizing of virtual tours, for example, to the gas field. Specialists of Komsomolskoye gas field provided consultative assistance in fulfillment of this project. Special technologies and VR-glasses allow visitors of the tour, without leaving the Museum, to visit Komsomolskoye gas field, which is one of the leaders in gas production — the full effect of presence is provided. The virtual travel became the fascinating interactive project of the Museum to organize leisure activities for children and adolescents, families with children, as well as an educational and career-guidance platform.
99 managers of projects of nationwide significance in the sphere of culture and art will receive grants, according to the results of the contest held in 2018. The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin.
