After the launch of the project “Yamal LNG” in 2018 Russian liquefied natural gas was delivered to the most exotic corners of the world. This is evidenced with the annual statistical report of BP.
The project “Sakhalin-2”, which mainly provided markets in the Asia-Pacific region (APR), carrying out small deliveries to Kuwait, was the main source of liquefied natural gas deliveries from Russia before the launch of “Yamal LNG”. 11 million 400 thousand tonnes of LNG were produced in 2018 within “Sakhalin-2”, Yamal LNG reported on export of 113 consignments or 8 million 400 thousand tonnes of LNG.
According to the BP report, Russia exported about 12 million 500 thousand tonnes of LNG to the APR countries, slightly more than half of them to Japan. Deliveries were also made to China, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Pakistan. About 5 million tonnes of Russian LNG, or about 10% of all purchased LNG, were delivered to the European market, as the oil and gas information agency reports. Last year was marked with such “exotic” directions of Russian LNG deliveries as Canada and Argentina — 73 thousand tonnes, Brazil — 150 thousand tonnes, Egypt -220 thousand tonnes.
