The national project “Ecology”. Yamal preserves forests and cleans rivers

Three regional projects are being fulfilled in Yamal within the national project “Ecology”: “Forest preservation”, “Clean water” and “Forming of the complex system of municipal solid waste management”. This information was given by the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov at the conference on fulfillment of the national project “Ecology” in Ural Federal Okrug. It took place in Kurgan under the chairmanship of the minister of natural resources of Russia Dmitry Kobylkin.
According to the head of the arctic region, the project on protecting of forests supposes restoration of territories that suffered from fires, purchasing of specialized fire-fighting vehicles and equipment, organizing of aircraft operations on fire fighting.
“Activities on restoration and protection of forests in the region are being implemented, all indicators are being fulfilled, financing was brought to responsible institutions. In general, the national project “Ecology” is under the special control. If to take not easy territory and accumulated damage to consideration, big amounts of work are ahead, but we shall do the best”, he said.
Assessment of state of water supply systems in the region was conducted within the project “Clean Water”. The program on improvement of water quality will be taken in summer of 2019.
Active work on forming of the system of municipal waste management is taking place in the region. The territorial scheme, which will define what objects to create in the region, will be prepared till the end of 2019 with consideration of public discussions.
According to the governor of the region, Yamal independently fulfills two other projects. The first touches upon cleaning of beds of 6 rivers and coastal territories. The total area of rehabilitated water bodies till the end of 2024 will make 89 hectares. The second project “Clean country” supposes liquidation of unauthorized landfills. According to the press-service of the head of the region, till 2024 it is planned to clean 341 such objects in populated areas and forest massifs.
