Work of the field scientific research school, which was attended by students of Russian and Swiss higher education institutions, is being completed in Nadym. The passing loop Shchuchiy of the 501st railroad building was selected as the location. Here the students set up a campsite, tents, a field kitchen.
For almost three weeks under the leadership of Russian and foreign scientists and experts the young people have studied issues of construction in permafrost zone and use of new models of load-bearing structures.
In addition, they are conducting field interdisciplinary research in the sphere of ecology, history and journalism, as it is reported in the administration of Nadymskiy district. Someone was working with soil and ecosystem, someone — with the railroad line and bridges, studied construction methods. Still others searched for artifacts and built a 3D projection of the real camp. Upon arrival home each student will prepare a report on own sphere of work.
The other day the head of Nadymskiy district Leonid Dyachenko visited the international field school, he communicated with the young people and their leaders.
“European youth is not different from our Russian young people, they are also curious, interesting and competent”, he said. “They are pleased with the travel to Yamal”.
Leonid Dyachenko also communicated with the supervisor of the field school at Shchuchiy, a Swiss journalist and historian Eric Hoesli. He loves Russia and has been interested in it since his childhood. He is delighted with Yamal and likes everything here: nature, people and infinitely huge sky.
The foreign guests have come to Russia not for the first time, and, according to them, Yamal is a unique northern region, with incredible nature and bright colorful culture of indigenous population.
(The note: “Dead Railroad” is “Salekhard–Igarka Railway” or Transpolar Mainline).
