Indian companies intend to increase the amount of deliveries of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG), in particular, they are interested in buying gas from future projects of NOVATEK – “Arctic LNG 2” and “Arctic LNG 3”. This information was given by Russia’s Minister of energy Alexander Novak to TASS in his comments on the results of the meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India Dharmendra Pradhan.
“We also discussed that the LNG market will be expanded, and in the future our Indian partners are interested in increasing LNG supplies, including from the new project – “Arctic LNG 2” and “Arctic LNG 3” — the future new project. Other projects are possible. We shall continue cooperating with them”, Novak said.
“Arctic LNG 2” with the capacity of about 19 million and 800 thousand tonnes of LNG per year is the second plant of NOVATEK after “Yamal LNG”. It will be built on the basis of the Utrenneye field on the Gydan Peninsula in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug; its launch will take place in 2022-2023. “Arctic LNG 3” is one of LNG projects being planned by the company, Severo-Obskiy license area will become its resource base.
The first LNG consignments from Russia to India were delivered last year from the plant “Yamal LNG”.
