A schoolgirl from Yamal was awarded with the Star of Artek

The international children’s center “Artek” held the diplomatic session “Children — Ambassadors of Peace”. 29 young diplomats from Yamal participated in it. The schoolchildren got acquainted with specifics of the profession of a diplomat, diplomatic techniques, skills and knowledge useful in everyday life. They also learned about development of international cooperation and mutual assistance among children and youth.
For the second year in a row the travel of the schoolchildren to the Black Sea coast of the Crimea has been organized by the department of external relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Travel vouchers are allocated within the agreement on cooperation between the department and the Fund for support of the children’s center “Artek”. All the participants of the session are winners of the regional part of the international contest on development of social initiatives and intercultural communications “Children – Ambassadors of Peace” organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry together with partners. The contest selection was conducted in secondary schools of Salekhard and Labytnangi where “Clubs of young diplomats” work, the regional department of external relations reports. To receive a travel voucher the children had to write a creative work (an essay) on topics related to diplomacy and international relations.
In “Artek” schoolchildren from Yamal in addition to general education programs participated in the thematic classes of “International school of young diplomats”, in the projects “Meeting with the ambassador”, “Diplomatic mission”, “Summit of young diplomats”. They climbed the mount Ayu-Dag, were involved in preparation of the action “Requiem of memory” dedicated to the Day of Solidarity in the fight against terrorism, in production of the musical “Operation Clean Planet”, were active in organizing of quests and debates. At the closing ceremony of the diplomatic session a pupil of secondary school No.5 from Labytnangi Marina Kostyuk was awarded with the Star of Artek for high personal achievements and active participation in programs of the session. In total 9 participants of Artek received the award.
This year 300 children from 11 to 17 years old from Russia, Abkhazia, Belarus, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, France and Montenegro participated in the session.
