NOVATEK will launch the fourth line of “Yamal LNG” till the middle of the year

NOVATEK plans to launch the fourth line of the plant “Yamal LNG” in the first half of 2020. The head of the company, Leonid Mikhelson, told about that at the briefing at the world economic forum in Davos. According to him, it is planned to start commissioning in March.
“This year in the first half of the year everyone is interested in the fourth line of our technology. We shall start commissioning in March, and in the first half of the year we shall launch … we shall launch other 1 million tonnes”, said Michelson.
He adds that NOVATEK wants to look at operation of the fourth line of the plant in different modes, as the launch of the company’s next LNG project will depend on that, as the economic information agency “Prime” reports.
“We want to try it out in different modes, because it will influence on the next project”, said Leonid Mikhelson.
“Yamal LNG” is a Russian project for liquefying of natural gas on the basis of the South Tambeyskoye field. Its shareholders are: NOVATEK (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%) and the Silk Road Fund (9.9%). Three production lines with the capacity 5 million 500 thousand tonnes of LNG each were launched within the project. Thus, the total design capacity of the plant is 16 million 500 thousands tonnes per year. The fourth line is being built with use of own technology of NOVATEK “Arctic Cascade” for almost 1 million tonnes.
