The dean of the journalism department of Lomonosov Moscow State University marked work of the Yamal TV and radio company “Impulse”, which opened the first corporate media class in Russia.
During the traditional February International scientific and practical conference “Journalism in 2019: Creativity, Profession, Industry” Yelena Vartanova, professor of MSU and a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of education said that “television, media and social networks play a huge role in life of children”.
“More often we call our children “digital” youth. It seems to me that the TV company “Impulse” is doing a great job on forming of positive and at the same time critical knowledge of the new digital environment, what will not allow manipulating our children, what will allow them to fulfill their talents in the new digital environment with great perfection”, the expert said.
The scientific and practical conference was held in Moscow and was dedicated to modern problems of theory and practice of journalism, including early career guidance for schoolchildren and students. Researchers are increasingly coming to the conclusion that ideas of undergraduate applicants about the profession do not match their expectations. Therefore, today it is important to prepare students for the choice of such a creative and responsible profession as a journalist. The project “Impulse-class” being implemented in cooperation with teachers of secondary school No.17 in Noviy Urengoy meets the requirements of the higher school for future specialists. Graduates of the project “Impulse-class” will get a complete picture of a journalist’s activity and will be able to make the right choice about their future profession.
Yelena Vartanova also notes that all the accumulated experience of the TV and radio company “Impulse” is subject to scientific generalization.
“We would like the experience of the TV company “Impulse” to be preserved, developed, and let it reach the regional and federal levels. And we at the journalism department will always turn to this experience to analyze, to identify positive examples and further to popularize such excellent work”, said the dean of the journalism department.
