“This is a significant event for the sports school, which will celebrate its 65th anniversary this year. The young people not only won awards, but also qualified for the European championship, which will be held in Turkey in March”, said Gennady Okhrimenko, the director of the sports school “Start”.
According to him, the Kyokushinkai direction in Salekhard has been actively developing since 2000. The famous coach Vladimir Mamontov was one of its originators. He worked as a coach and a teacher during more than 25 years; also he headed the Regional Kyokushinkai Federation. For the first time, the Vladimir Mamontov memorial tournament was held in Tarko-Salye in 2010. Now 120 people do this sport.
“I went through a hard way: I fought through blood and sweat. I didn’t have enough patience for the golden medal, but I am very happy with my result”, said the young athlete Danil Mesnyankin.
