The department of external relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is conducting the competitive selection among school students from the clubs of young diplomats for the travel to Vienna. In the capital of Austria the winners of the contest will participate in festive events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Organization. The travel will take place from the 26th of April to the 2nd of May.
The competitive selection is being conducted in two stages: correspondence and in-person. At the first stage the young diplomats should submit the written work “My great-grandparents in the Great Patriotic War” in English and Russian. At the second (in-person) session they will speak at the round table on the theme “Maintaining and strengthening of international peace and security”. The discussion will be conducted in English and Russian. The contest commission will evaluate performances and participation of the young diplomats according to criteria such as monologue, dialogic speech and communication skills. According to the results of the selection, eight winners will be determined, they will go to the festive events in Vienna.
In 2019 the department of external relations held the contest for young diplomats to participate in the 18th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York. Four winners from Salekhard and Labytnangi visited the UN Headquarters in New York and got acquainted with work of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN.
The clubs of young diplomats have been operating in Salekhard since 2017 and in Labytnangi since 2018. In 2020 the diplomatic clubs were opened in the settlement Kharp in Priuralskiy district and in Noviy Urengoy.
