The ethnic holiday, the Reindeer Herder’s Day, will take place in Noyabrsk on the 21st of March for the first time. The center for spiritual and moral education will be the venue of the holiday. It has picturesque territory, atmosphere of northern fairy-tale and a warm choum with folkloric Snow Maiden of Yamal – Ser Ni. (The note: a choum is a dwelling of nomads, reindeer herders; it is similar to a tepee).
Everyone, who wishes, will be able to visit different entertainments, to participate in contests, competitions and master classes. For example, it will be possible to watch how a tundra woman sets a small choum. She will tell about the process of setting of the Nenets dwelling, as the administration of Noyabrsk informs in Instagram.
Interactive entertainments will be organized for children. It will be possible to participate in the quiz “To know Yamal”. Among the entertainments there is the extreme race “Arctic jungle”, the snow fight, snowmobiling. The exhibition-fair of souvenirs and ethnic products of northern peoples will take place here. The Khanty folk ensemble “Vurty Eviet” will perform for guests of the festival.
And what day of reindeer herders can be without ethnic sports: throwing of a tynzyan on a khorey, jumping over narty (nomadic sleighs) and mas-wrestling. (The note: a tynzyan is a rope lasso for catching a reindeer, and khorey is a long-pole for driving a reindeer sleigh). Nenets people will come to Noyabrsk on reindeer sleighs from the nomadic camp, which is located not far from Khanymey, and they will take everyone, who wishes, for a ride.
In addition, it is possible to take photos with two snow-white reindeer and in ethnic clothes, as well as to ride a dog sled. Friendly malamute dogs will make children and grownups happy.
