A grant in 50 thousand rubles for making the documentary film about Yamal in Komi languages with Russian subtitles was provided by the Project Office for Arctic Development (PORA). Alexander Pivkin is its performer.
The author intends to introduce the audience to the sound of Komi language and its lexical capabilities. The film will become a document that preserves the living language of the northern ethnic group. The film is set in Yamal, where a small (6 thousand people) ethnic group of Komi-Izvatas people lives. The entire action revolves around the main character of the film, Anatoly Terentyev, as it is informed on the website of PORA. He was born in a family of reindeer herders and learned how to pasture reindeer, to hunt and fish. However, he became a journalist and works for the main television of Yamal. All his broadcasts are promotion of traditions, culture and language of his people; they include stories about respect for nature and history of their land. Anatoly managed to combine the traditional and the modern in himself and in his family. He says that the future of Komi-Izvatas people and their language depends on each person individually. Anatoly Terentyev is a bright representative of his people, and it will be easier for the viewer to understand the nature and the character of the small northern ethnic group through acquaintance to him.
According to the calendar plan, the film will be ready in December 2020.
