The Yamal challenge. The Reindeer Herder’s Day moved to the Internet

The Reindeer Herder’s Day, the favorite holiday of residents and guests of Yamal, received the online format. Every person, who wishes, can place posts with the tags #ДеньОленеводаЯмал, in order as many people as possible around the world would learn about the holiday, and next year they would definitely come to Yamal. Such Instagram post was written by Nayil Khairullin, the director of the department of youth policy and tourism of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
In days, when many residents of the country and the world are at home on the quarantine or self-isolation, bright colorful photos from the favorite holiday of residents and tourists of Yamal – the Reindeer Herder’s Day “walk” in the Internet. Fairs and delicious treats, cozy choums and their welcoming hosts, ethnic sports and lots of reindeer — residents and guests of the region are happy to share photographs of the ethnic holiday on Instagram. (The note: a choum is a dwelling of nomads, reindeer herders; it is a tent covered with reindeer hides and similar to a tepee).
“The Reindeer Herder’s Day is the main tourist event of the year in the whole big Yamal. On these days the tourist flow reached its peak, it was impossible to find a free hotel room, and on the planes it was possible to hear the cheerful French and Italian speech to the left and right. And let the situation does not allow us to hold mass celebrations outside, but nothing prevents us from holding them online. Place your colorful posts”, the head of the regional department said.
As it should be reminded, municipalities of Yamal, being guided by the decree of the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov about introduction of the high-alert regime in the region because of spread of the coronavirus infection, canceled the celebrations of the Reindeer Herder’s Day.
In 2020 it was planned to hold the Reindeer Herder’s Day in 22 towns and settlements of the region. Usually it travels through populated areas of Yamal, staying in each for 1-2 days. The very first holiday was held on the 21st of February on the trading station Kar-Nat, and it was planned to hold the last of this year in the settlement Seyakha on the 18th of April.
Thus, till the 18th of April all residents and tourists of Yamal, who have visited the Reindeer Herder’s Day at least once and want to tell the world about the large-scale holiday, can post photos and videos from the holiday in their accounts.
