The battle of regions. The polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov is in the top five

A series of tournaments was held within the IV inter-club individual-team tournament “The Battle of Regions” on the Internet portal Lichess.org. 

The tournament was divided into two leagues: the Super League and the First League. Scoring was counted on the best 10 players.

The team of the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov participated in tournaments of the Super League with time control 5+2 (the blitz) and 3+1(the super blitz). 9 best teams of Russia met on the fields of chess battles with time control 5 minutes+2 seconds for each made move, 306 chess players competed online, and 69 sportspeople represented our school. In the hard competition the team of the school entered the top five and in the future, keeping the place in the Super League, will continue to perform among the strongest teams in Russia.

The best results among the sportspeople of Yamal were shown by Karina Stroganova (21 points), Aleksey Piskun (19) and Ivan Matviyenko (17).  

The final results of the teams: the Chess Federation of Prikamye (199 points), the Chess Club “Krasnodar” (184), Lipetsk chess club (181), Voronezh chess club (181), the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov from Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (169), chess players from Moscow Oblast (135), Kuzbass (131), Altai Krai (98), Samara Oblast (69).

10 teams, 275 sportspeople participated in the tournament with time control 3 minutes+1 second. And 46 sportspeople represented Yamal. The competition was hard, and everything was decided in the last seconds. As a result, our team took the 7^th place. In the future the chess players from Yamal will have to re-qualify to return to the League of the strongest Russian teams in the super blitz game.   

The best results among the sportspeople from Yamal were shown by Igor Meidy (22 points), Timofey Ilyin and Alexander Sergeyev (19).

The final results of the teams: the combined team of Tyumen Oblast (242 points), the Chess Federation of Prikamye (238), Orenburg Oblast (223), Voronezh chess club (221), Kuzbass (196), the Chess Club “Krasnodar” (196), the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov from Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (181), chess players from Moscow Oblast (171), Lipetsk chess club (153), Online Chess 33 (0).   

The level of the competitions was very high. It is enough to say that the opposing teams were headed by well-known grandmasters and masters of the chess game in our country. It is also worth noting the progress of the young students of the school, who are not shy in front of more titled opponents, and with each new tournament they performed better and better. This time Igor Meidy, who scored the biggest number of points in our team, came to the top. 

In addition, in the online chess community the sportspeople from Salekhard represent Yamal in tournaments being held on the portal Chess.com. The international grandmaster Alexander Potapov participated in the match between the Russian national team and the Serbian national team.
