Chess players from Yamal won “The Battle of Regions”

The fifth inter-club individual and team competition “The Battle of Regions” was completed on the Internet portal Lichess.org. Traditionally the tournament was divided into two leagues: the Super League and the First League. The team of the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov participated in the games of the Super League with the time control 5+2 (the blitz).
10 best teams of Russia met on the fields of chess battles with the time control 5 minutes + 2 seconds for each made move, 383 chess players competed online, and 59 sportspeople represented Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The team from Yamal took the first place in the hard competition.
The final results of the teams are the following: the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov (189 points), the Chess Federation of Prikamye (185), Voronezh Chess Club (177), “Chess players from Moscow Oblast” (177), Udmurt Republic Chess Federation (175), “Chess Players of Ural region” (166), the Chess Club “Krasnodar” (164), Lipetsk Chess Club (159), Volgograd chess federation (155), “Chess in Kursk and Kursk Oblast” (153).
The best results among chess players from Yamal were shown by Sergey Savitsky — 32 points, Pavel Potapov and Roman Lavretsky — 22 points each.
The team of Yamal had a difficult task in the tournament of the First League with the time control 3 minutes + 1 second for each made move: through the selection to enter the elite of the strongest teams in Russia in order to participate in further tournaments of the Super League. To reach the goal it was necessary to reach the finish line among the top three teams in the tournament. 7 teams, 158 chess players participated in the qualifying competitions of the First League, and 56 sportspeople represented the Polar chess school of Yamal.
It should be noted that the team of Yamal won the victory with the final result 258 points by a significant margin from the nearest opponent — Samara Oblast. The teams reached the finish line in the following order: the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov from Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (258 points), Samara Oblast (187), Lichess Tomsk Chess club (182), Volgograd chess federation (170), Mordovia (154), “Chess in Kursk and Kursk Oblast” (126), Novosib beduins (68).
The best results were shown by chess players from Yamal Bogdan Belyakov (41 points), Sergey Savitsky (39) and Pavel Potapov (33).
