Our History — our Victory! Young people from Yamal are preparing memorial events in Crimea

On the 6th of May the international online conference “Our History — our Victory!” will be held on the initiative of the department of external relations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Representatives of public organizations that maintain military graves of the Red Army soldiers and their allies, who died in the World War II in Europe, as well as young compatriots, who voluntarily participate in memorial events, will become its participants. They will share their experience in preservation of historical memory and perpetuation of names of heroes, will discuss prospects for cooperation and plans for 2020.
Public organizations and young compatriots from Austria, Slovakia, Belarus, Latvia, Serbia, Germany, Moldova, Poland and Estonia have already announced their participation in the online conference. Activists and public figures from Yamal, the Republic of Crimea and Kaliningrad Oblast will participate in the conference from the Russian side. At the conference the representatives of the arctic region will speak on the initiative to hold memorial events on the territory of Crimea in August-September 2020 within the youth patriotic project “Our History – our Victory”. According to the regional department of external relations, the activists of Yamal and young compatriots living abroad will clean and repair military graves, visit historical museums and places of military glory.
The youth international project “Our History – our Victory!” was launched in 2011 on the initiative of the group of compatriots from Ukraine and Portugal. Residents of Yamal and compatriots from Sevastopol and Lisbon restored the Memorial sign to the partisans of the Sevastopol partisan detachment. In different years Crimea, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Israel became venues for events of the project. In 2019 young people from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and students from Yamal studying in higher education institutions of Kurgan met in Belarus, where they visited places of military glory, historical museums and cleaned military graves in Brest.
