On the 12th-13th of May Yamal will host the final stage of the contest for projects in the sphere of domestic and inbound tourism. Initially, it was planned that the defense of the projects will take place in April, but because of the restrictive measures the department of youth policy and tourism of Yamal decided to postpone the dates and to change the format — the defense of the projects will take place in the video conference via Zoom.
This year the record number of applications was submitted for the contest – 93. Topics of the projects are very different: creation and improvement of tourist infrastructure (hotels, guesthouses, campsites, landscaping), development of tourist/excursion routes, purchase of vehicles and tourist equipment. 45 of them were admitted to the defense.
Applicants for the subsidy of 3 million rubles in the category “The best project on development of domestic and inbound tourism in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug” make the biggest number (15). There are 10 candidates in each category: “The best project on development of tourist infrastructure” (2 million rubles) and “The best project on increase in inbound tourist flow” (1 million rubles). 5 projects will compete for 500 thousand rubles in the category “The best project aimed at popularization and promotion of tourist potential and tourist products of the region”, 4 projects — for 300 thousand rubles “The best project on popularization of ethnic traditions of peoples of the North in the sphere of tourism” and 1 project — for 200 thousand rubles “The best project in the sphere of tourism connected with use of information technologies and interactive services and products”.
As it should be noted, the contest of the projects has been held since 2012. Over 9 years 42 projects have received financial support.
Until 2018 financial support was provided in the form of grants; in 2018 the format changed. The total sum of support for projects of residents of Yamal was also increased considerably: till 2017 the total sum of grants amounted to 1 million 900 thousand rubles, and starting from 2018, the sum of subsidies makes 7 million rubles.
