The project “Cozy Yamal” is presented at the fourteenth International contest “Best practice in citizen participation” organized by the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD). The final will be held on the 20th-22nd of July at the annual IOPD conference in Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire).
The International Observatory on Democracy covers more than 800 cities of the world, associations, organizations and research centers interested in development of democratic principles of work in state and municipal authorities.
Every year the organization holds the contest “Best practice in citizen participation”. In total, this year the contest received 39 applications from 17 countries, including 8 applications from Russia.
According to the results of the voting, 21 applications from 12 countries were approved for participation in the final stage of the contest. The applications from two subjects of the Russian Federation, which will compete for the title of the best innovative practice of participatory democracy, reached the final of the international contest.
At the moment, work on preparing of an extended application on the project “Budgetary initiative of citizens” (“Cozy Yamal”) is being conducted for participation in the contest.
The jury will define the winner of the contest, as well as 5 special nominations. Names of winners will be announced on the 20th-22nd of July at the annual IOPD conference in Abidjan (Cote d’Ivoire).
As it should be reminded, the project of initiative budgeting “Cozy Yamal” has been implemented since 2019. And 143 initiatives on the sum more than 300 million rubles were received from participants of the project in 2019. The application campaign 2020 was started on the 1st of March. The online voting will be held in the early autumn, on the 2nd — the 12th of September, residents will be able to support their favorite initiative in the in-person voting on the 13th of September.
