Northerners wrote almost five thousand names on the Victory Banner of Yamal

There are almost five thousand names on the Victory Banner of Yamal. Residents of the region in each municipality were able to write names of their heroes on the banner. Its fragments traveled to the most remote settlements of Yamal. It is time to combine the parts into one large cloth of the banner.   

The governor of Yamal Dmitry Artyukhov voiced several stories of the war written on it.

“Behind every line on the banner there are lives of our relatives: father of a gas worker from Nadym and a reindeer herder from Seyakha, the name was written by his grandson; the names of great-grandfather of a teacher from Gubkinskiy and grandmother of a girl-student of the cadet class in Salekhard… For 3 months we have written the names of our relatives together by the entire region”, Dmitry Artyukhov said. He expressed regret that this May we are not able to carry the banner all together, as agreed.

“We will definitely carry it again. We remember. We are proud”, the head of the region added.
