LNG-tankers for “Arctic LNG 2” will be equipped with navigation equipment

The company “Transas” will participate in equipping of vessels for “Arctic LNG 2”. In accordance with the signed document, the tankers will be equipped with a set of radio equipment for sea navigation area A1A2A3A4, satellite communication equipment VSAT, IRIDIUM, as well as an integrated navigation bridge system. The first 15 vessels for work on Russian Arctic projects, including the unique arctic tanker — gas carrier “Christophe de Margerie”, were also equipped with onboard navigation equipment manufactured by Transas in 2014-2018.
Installation of two navigation bridges in the bow and the stern of the vessel will be an exceptional feature of equipping of the LNG-tankers for the project “Arctic LNG 2”. It will allow choosing the most optimal way to travel in difficult ice conditions. Both navigation bridges of all five LNG-tankers of the project will be equipped with a navigation system consisting of 12 Multifunctional Display (MFD) Workstations with a full set of basic applications. It includes an Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), a radiolocation station Navi-Radar, a navigation information display system Navi-Conning, a signal notification and alarm tracking system BAMS. It also includes a route planning station Navi-Planner, which allows guiding the ship along a pre-selected route with minimal participation of a ship driver.
A uniqueness feature of the equipment being installed by Transas is that all the workstations located in the bow and stern bridges are integrated into a single integrated system with the opportunity of duplicating of main functions of the ship’s operational activity in difficult conditions of the Arctic.
In addition, the delivered navigation system for the LNG-tankers is fully ready for integration with a system FOS (Fleet Operations Solution) manufactured by Transas. The integrated solution FOS is an integrated infrastructure that combines navigation bridge systems, cloud data management, data transfer services, tools to support decision-making and real-time access to information. In addition to considerable increase in the level of efficiency of marine operations, the solution FOS also assists to reduce operational costs, what is especially important in implementation of complex projects on development of arctic navigation in Russia. The vessels will be equipped in full compliance with requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the international classification community BV. The entire equipment being installed will be developed and tested for the possibility of year-round operation in severe climate conditions at temperatures up to 62°C below zero, as pro-arctic.ru informs. Delivery of the equipment under the contract will be started in 2020 and continued until the end of 2023.
