A fish-farming site in Tazovskiy. Fish farmers plan to grow chir juveniles

The first consignment of chir (broad whitefish) juveniles – about 100 thousand – was delivered to the settlement Tazovskiy by helicopter. The fish juveniles grown at Sobsky fish-farming plant in the settlement Kharp overcame 850 kilometers. The precious cargo was transported in 100 polyethylene packs with water in order to be placed into the fish cage line for further growing.

Placement of the fish juveniles in the seasonal home installed in the Taz riverbed near the district center was fulfilled by specialists of the fish-farming enterprise.

On the 11th of June another helicopter brought already the second consignment of the fish juveniles. The fish farmers of Sobsky plant plan to grow in total more than 200 thousand juveniles of chir on the site in Tazovskiy during the season, as the press service of the governor of Yamal reports. The fish juveniles will grow in natural conditions. In addition to artificial feeds, river feed will also be present in their diet, so that the fingerlings will quickly reach the necessary weight. The fish juveniles, which now weigh about 0.7 grams, will be able to gain more than 10 grams by the end of summer, after what they will be released into the river.

“We placed the fish juveniles in the fish cage line that was already used for growing of chir last year. There are six cages with the size 5 by 5 meters and the depth 4 meters each - this is a comfortable environment for fish juveniles. When they grow up, we will partially relocate them to additional cages”, said Dmitry Kolesnikov, the director of Sobsky fish-farming plant.

As it should be reminded, the cage line purchased at the expense of the regional budget was delivered to Tazovskiy at the end of May. 24 cages are designed for growing of 2 million juveniles of whitefish species. This technological solution is the basis for the project on building of a fish-farming plant on the Taz River. The facility, including production and administrative premises, should be completed by the end of this year.

“Appearing of the fish-farming site on the Taz River will allow starting work on reproduction of populations of whitefish species in the eastern part of the region, which was not previously covered with artificial reproduction measures. The technology of growing of fish juveniles in cage lines proved to be good, and in the future it will be possible to use it in Krasnoselkoup and Shuryshkarskiy districts”, said the head of the office for organizing and regulating of fishery under the department of agro-industrial complex of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Sergey Gulyalov.
