A long-lived woman from Yamal marked her 100th anniversary in a new choum

In the settlement Seyakha of Yamalskiy district a long-lived woman Myusene Yaptik marked her 100th anniversary.

According to the information given a correspondent of the news agency “Sever-Press” by the deputy head of the administration of Seyakha Larisa Vanuito, now the long-lived woman of Yamal lives with her younger daughter in a cottage. She has good housing conditions, but she always wanted to spend summer not far from the settlement in her own choum – nomadic dwelling similar to a tepee. When the head of the settlement Stanislav Vanuito congratulated the woman with Victory Day on the 9th of May, she asked him about long poles for a choum. Her request was fulfilled, and now she can spend time in her new choum, which is situated on the hill near her home. There she enjoys doing needlework.

Larisa Vanuito notes that, despite such respectable age, the woman has very good health and memory. She likes to talk about the times of the Soviet power, when it was necessary to dress the Red Army soldiers, craftswomen of Yamal sewed clothes for them. She remembers how she worked at a fur farm in Panayevsk.

According to the deputy head of the administration of the settlement, Myusene Yaptik is a person with unusual fate, she traveled around the vast expanses of the Yamal tundra: from the north to the southernmost borders. She is full of knowledge and Nenets traditions. A film director of Yamal Anastasia Laptsuy made a documentary film about Myusene Yaptik and her family.
