Dmitry Kobylkin: Projects of Yamal are generators of development of the country

Resources of the Yamal Peninsula and the Gydan Peninsula, according to the preliminary estimates of industrialists and experts, provide the opportunity to produce over 70 million tonnes of LNG per year during tens of years. In fact, use of such potential will allow creating an LNG-cluster in the Arctic region with a share of more than 15 percent of the world LNG production, as the governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Kobylkin says in the interview to the magazine “Expert”.

“It is absolutely fair and reasonable estimate of hydrocarbon, technological and human potential of our region. The decision on creation of the second plant on production of liquefied gas has been taken. “Arctic LNG 2” will be built on platforms in the Gulf of Ob near the coastline of the Gydan peninsula”, he explained. The governor also marked significance of the fact that the company “NOVATEK” plans to produce the modules of the plant exclusively on the Russian shipyard in Murmansk region, what gives a great advantage to the domestic producer, and projects of Yamal help many productions of the country, provide them with orders, are generators of development. As we should note, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev gave a high assessment to Northern projects on the meeting dedicated to development of transport infrastructure of the Russian North that recently took place in Murmansk. As Dmitry Medvedev notes, motor roads and railroads, seaports and airports have vitally important significance for hard-to-reach northern territories and for the Arctic area. They are the basis of economic development of all the regions. It is planned to fulfill a row of large-scale building projects such as the port of Sabetta in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, as he notes.
