It is planned to develop ecological tourism in the Russian Arctic

The Ministry for nature and environment of Russia suggests developing ecological tourism on arctic archipelagoes Novaya Zemlya and Franz Joseph Land. This information was given by the minister for natural resources and environment of Russia Sergey Donskoy.

According to his words, creation and development of infrastructure will take place in two stages. First, till 2019, it is planned to create scientific and tourist-expedition complexes on Heiss Island of Franz Joseph Land and on Severny Island of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. At that, it is necessary to scrutinize the issue on allocation of additional financing from the federal budget for fulfillment of the given activities in the amount 700 million rubles, as the minister underlines. The second stage supposes designing and building of the multifunctional scientific and research ship and also the visit-center of the national park “Russian Arctic” (Russkaya Arktika National Park), as RIA “Novosti” informs. It is supposed to scrutinize the issue on allocation of additional funds, including off-budgetary sources, after inclusion of the project of the first stage to the certificate, as Sergey Donskoy notes.
