Jurassic deposits are being developed in Sporyshevskoye field

Industrial oil production rates from Jurassic deposits were received in Sporyshevskoye field of “Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz”. It gives grounds for additional research with the aim of updating of reserves and further increase in extraction.

Jurassic strata in Sporyshevskoye field lie at the depth from 2850 to 3650 meters. Sidetracking followed with hydraulic fracturing was fulfilled on one of previously mothballed objects within geological exploration being performed with deepening of inactive well stock. The initial production rate was 30 tonnes per day. The information was given to the news agency “Sever-Press” in the corporate communications department of “Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz”.

After detailed studies of the available geological information the specialists of “Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz” performed sidetracking on a neighboring well. Its initial production rate was even higher - 60 tonnes per day in the free-flow production mode.

For the present day Jurassic reserves of Sporyshevskoye field, which are entered in the company’s books, make about 100 thousand tonnes. However, according to the geologists, these deposits may contain more than 1 million tonnes of oil. The company’s specialists together with their technological partners have already begun evaluation of the prospects and search for missed deposits.

“Development of Jurassic deposits confirms the highest level of competence of our specialists. If earlier some extractive fields at the late stages of development were considered “tailings” and having no serious prospects, today they are already considered as a future driver of production. And the proposed method of geological exploration with use of the existing well stock allows significantly reducing capital allocations, since all the necessary infrastructure has already been created”, said Alexander Shushakov, the director general of “Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz”.

Sporyshevskoye field located near Noyabrsk was commissioned in 1996. The accumulated extraction at the beginning of 2020 makes 43 million 100 thousand tonnes of oil. The field is characterized as “geologically multi-storeyed”, what means that it contains oil reserves in deposits of different geological periods (Cretaceous, Jurassic and others).
