Russian scientists will discuss development of the Arctic on the conference in Salekhard

The scientific and practical conference "Obdoria: history, culture, modernity" will take place in Salekhard on the 23rd and 24th of April.

It is organized by the scientific center for exploration of the Arctic, the Museum-exhibition complex of Shemanovskiy and the department on science and innovations of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Scientists of the following institutions will gather on the conference: the Institute of History and Archaeology at the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Philosophy and Law at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Northern Development at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Komi Science Centre at the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Museum of Ethnography, the Russian Geographical Society and Tyumen universities. They will discuss economic and socio-cultural development of the Russian Arctic and also a role of indigenous population in development of Yamal. The participants of the forum will present reports in three sections: historical and social, medical and biological, archeological and ethnographic researches, as the press-service of the governor of Yamal informs.
