Scientists of Yamal will elaborate methods of survival in the Arctic

Employees of the sector of medical researches at the scientific center for study of the Arctic are researching influence of cold on reflex areas of human skin. 35 volunteers – inhabitants of the town Nadym and rotational employees are participating in the experiment.

According to the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" in the press-service of the governor of Yamal, the first stage of the research started last December. During the procedure the scientists tested areas of skin on shoulders and forearms of the volunteers. In a critical situation, when a human gets cold, he cannot cover his body with clothes from frost evenly. But skin has definite reflex areas that are subjected to temperature decrease more than others. Covering these areas, a human can live in cold much longer. The scientists want to find these areas and to research them. If their suppositions will be confirmed, they will be able to create mechanisms and methods of survival in conditions of arctic frosts. This information was given by the head of the sector of medical researches at the scientific center for study of the Arctic, a cardiologist Andrey Popov. According to the words of the scientists, in the prospect the researches will allow creating clothes, special patches on which will safely cover important areas on human body for survival in frost.
