The company “Gazpromneft-Yamal” brought tundra dwellers back home

In the beginning of June seventy tundra dwellers were brought back home from the Yamalskiy district center to places of their residence with support from the company “Gazpromneft-Yamal”. All of them were in the settlement Yar-Salye because of different reasons: medical treatment, registration of documents and solving of social issues. During two days the residents of tundra were delivered to inter-settlement territories – the area of the Yuribey River, the trading station Kharp, the areas of Talbeyakha and Yaroto. The information was given to the news agency “Sever-Press” in the press-service of the company. In total the helicopter fulfilled 11 flights to places of residence of indigenous peoples.

“Our cooperation with “Gazpromneft-Yamal” has been continued for years. The company renders assistance and regular help to indigenous ethnic minorities of the North in solving of important social issues. This time, owing to help of “Gazpromneft-Yamal”, tundra-dwellers, who had stayed in Yar-Salye during the season of bad roads, were able to come back home to their families”, said the chairperson of the district movement of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North “Yamal” Valeriy Khudi.

As it should be noted, the company renders help to indigenous ethnic minorities of the North within the yearly socioeconomic agreement with Yamalskiy district. The document also provides for financing of activity of the district movement of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North “Yamal”. In particular, it includes rendering of medical, material help to population leading the nomadic way of life and also conducting of activities aimed at preservation of cultural traditions.

“Contribution of “Gazpromneft-Yamal” to preservation of traditional way of life of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North is important work and one of basic tasks within cooperation with Yamalskiy district. We try quickly to respond applications from the administration and to help tundra-dwellers, when it is necessary”, said the director on organizational issues of “Gazpromneft-Yamal” Yevgeniy Zakharov.
