The force majeure was not able to leave the chess players from Yamal without the award
The seventh inter-club individual and team competitions “The Battle of Regions” were completed on the Internet portal Lichess.org. The best teams of Russia participated in the Super League tournaments, where Yamal was represented by the team of the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov.
280 chess players, including famous grandmasters and masters of chess playing, participated in the tournament with the control of 5 minutes+2 seconds for each made move. The chess players from Yamal won the confident victory by a margin in 21 points from the nearest opponent, thus convincingly once again proving their superiority in the tournament. It should be noted that the best result was achieved by Sergey Savitsky, a pupil of the chess school.
At the finish line the teams were arranged in the following order: the Polar chess school of Anatoly Karpov from Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (229 points), the Chess Federation of Prikamye (208), Voronezh Chess Club (200), “Chess Players of Ural region” (161), the Chess Club “Krasnodar” (148), Ryazan Oblast (142), Udmurt Republic Chess Federation (140), “Chess in Kursk and Kursk Oblast” (139), Lipetsk Chess Club (125), Altai Krai (110).

During the competition the game portal server could not withstand the load associated with the number of the participants in the tournaments on the game platform. As a result, the tournament was temporarily suspended and lasted less than usual by about 7-10 minutes. Due to technical problems, many competitors were unable to resume the tournament, including a number of leaders of the team from Yamal. This factor significantly influenced on distribution of places at the finish line.
But, despite the force majeure, the chess players from Yamal, focusing on the result, demonstrating insistence and sports spirit, showed excellent chess playing and became the silver medalists of the tournament. The final was very dramatic; only one point separated them from the first place.
