The week of culture of Khanty people will take place in Salekhard

The week of original national culture of Khanty people will take place in Salekhard from the 16th to the 19th of February. Activities are dedicated to the International Mother Language Day, which is celebrated in the whole world on the 21st of February.

Pupils of preschool institutions, schoolchildren and students, ethnographers and old residents of the town will participate in the event. The program includes rituals and holidays of Khanty people, the hour of ethnography and folklore - riddles, sayings and proverbs will be presented within it. Also the cartoon fairy-tale of Khanty people about adventures of a fox will be demonstrated. The presentation of the book by Zinaida Longortova "Flecks of sunlight on birch bark" and the master-class on making of "tuyesok" (a cylindrical container made of birch-bark with a tight-fitting lid) will take place. It is planned to conduct the lesson of literature dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Khanty writer, a member of the Union of Writers of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic), the honored citizen of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Roman Rugin. According to the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" in the centralized library system, more than 80 nationalities live in Yamal. Khanty, Nenets and Selkoup people are the smallest ethnic groups of indigenous people. This year the week of national culture was dedicated to Khanty people.
