Unique photographs and documents about indigenous residents in the years of the war
The online exhibition “Contribution of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug to Victory” is taking place on websites of museum institutions. It consists of several blocks and tells about the region before and during the war. The exhibition includes information tablets, photos, documents, as well as a video tour of the senior researcher of the sector for new and modern history at the Museum and Exhibition complex, Herman Bardin, and a quiz about the labor feat of Yamal during the war.
During the war Yamal was a home front territory providing the active army with food, primarily fish and venison. In addition, parcels and clothing for the Red Army soldiers were sent from the region.
All residents of Yamal, regardless of gender and age, made their contribution to the defeat of the invaders and the approach of Victory. A special place among residents of the region is occupied by representatives of indigenous ethnic minorities of the North - Nenets, Khanty, Selkoup and Zyryan peoples. First of all, it is explained with employment of traditional activities - fishing, reindeer husbandry, hunting, increased plans and their implementation.
The exhibition will be posted on the website of the district museum of local history in Purovsky district until the 30th of June (https://purmuseum.ru/ and http://mvk.yanao.ru/pobeda75/). Earlier it was possible to see the exhibition on Internet resources of district museums of local lore in Priuralskiy, Krasnoselkoup and Khanymey.
As it is noted in the regional Museum, the project is being implemented with financial support from the department for affairs of indigenous peoples of the North in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
