“Yuventa” from Noyabrsk became the Cuboro resource center in Yamal

The center for intellectual development “Yuventa” became the winner of the grant contest of the social investment program “Hometowns” in 2019 and received the status of the Cuboro regional resource center in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The status grants the right to hold town and regional competitions according to the world standards of Cuboro with issuance of diplomas and certificates.

Cuboro is a wooden construction set made of special cubes, which have symmetrical holes on the surface and inside. They allow creating mazes of any complexity. The game develops spatial imagination, logical thinking, concentration of attention, creative and intellectual abilities.

Last year the Festival of engineering creativity was organized in Noyabrsk with support of the program “Hometowns”. It covered majority of educational institutions in the town. The presentation of the construction set and the first family competition were ones of its main events. 15 teams participated in them. The event not only received positive reviews, but also significantly increased the demand for one of the most popular areas – design engineering. Thus, in January 2020 the first town design engineering championship “Cuboriada” was held among children aged 5-11 years old. The competition was attended by more than 100 children and 14 students-volunteers, who helped the jury.

According to the organizers, the uniqueness of the construction set Cuboro is that it allows developing logical and spatial thinking skills already in preschool age, while, according to the theory of mental development, formation of these types of thinking usually occurs in middle and high school age. Exactly that thinking forms children’s interest and develops their abilities in the sphere of design engineering and modeling. The construction set has no age restrictions, it is a great format for intellectual entertainment – it is possible to play with a family or friends. “We are very happy that “Gazprom Neft” supported our initiative and actively contributes to formation of the future technical elite of Yamal. The project aroused great interest among educational institutions of the town and the desire to include this type of designing in the system of additional education. In the past academic year more than 60 children have already been trained in the center “Yuventa”.
