108 wells. “Achimgaz” reaches the maximum level of annual production

The joint venture of “Gazprom dobycha Urengoy” and Wintershall Dea - “Achimgaz” launched the last one of 108 exploitation wells this October. Due to this fact, the company reaches the maximum level of annual production in 10 milliard cubic meters of natural gas.

Extraction of gas and condensate from technically and geologically complex Achimov deposits of Urengoyskoye field requires experience and extensive knowledge. The joint venture “Achimgaz” is a bright example of successful Russian-German cooperation in the energy sector. The company was founded in 2003, the first pilot wells were launched in 2008, and commercial development was started in 2011. For the present day the joint venture has extracted more than 43 milliard cubic meters of natural gas and 19 million tonnes of condensate, as the press center of Wintershall Dea reports.

According to Thilo Wieland, a member of the board of Wintershall Dea responsible for the company’s operations in Russia, all the partners on the project can be proud of the result. The goals remain ambitious in the long term. “Achimgaz” is constantly working on technological and economic optimization of the production process. It is planned to stabilize the level of extraction of natural gas at the maximum point owing to extension of capacities of the complex gas treatment unit.

The experience gained by the company will be used in development of sections 4A and 5A of Achimov deposits being developed by the company “Achim Development”, the youngest joint venture of Wintershall Dea in Russia. As the general contractor, the company “Achimgaz” was involved in fulfillment of the first phase of development of the project, during which the first wells were drilled this year.
