A chess player from Yamal won the golden medal of the Presidential competitions

A seventh-grade student from Salekhard Ilia Abramov won the golden award on chess within the All-Russian sports event “The Presidential competitions”. The event took place near the town – health resort Anapa in the children’s camp of rest “Smena”.

According to the information given to a correspondent of IA “Sever-Press” by Alexander Sergeiev, a coach-teacher of the Anatoly Karpov Polar chess school, Ilia Abramov was the only representative from Yamal on the competitions on chess. 149 seventh-grade students from 79 regions of the country competed for the victory. Ilia Abramov has been busy with chess professionally for the 5th year. He is determined to win. His opponents were very strong, but he managed to take the main prize. The boy like sports and plays football in one row with chess, as the coach of the young chess player explains. The program included the competitions on sports all-around, relay race, theoretical and creative contests, additional competitions on swimming, basketball, badminton, darts, table tennis, chess. More than 2000 schoolchildren participated in the Presidential competitions.
