A floating semisubmersible drilling platform will be delivered to the Kara Sea to Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

The floating semisubmersible drilling platform “Nanhai VIII” will be delivered to Leningradskoye gas condensate field situated in the Kara Sea in Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

It was delivered to the port of Murmansk on a special transport ship. The working meeting of the director general of the company “Gazprom Geologorazvedka” Aleksey Davydov and the governor of Murmansk Oblast Marina Kovtun took place on board of the platform. The governor of Murmansk Oblast received detailed information about tasks standing before the company in the region during the navigation season and about technology and equipment, which will be used in the course of the planned geological prospecting work. According to the information given to a correspondent of the news agency “Sever-Press” in the service on public relations and communication with mass media of the company, signing of the agreement on socioeconomic cooperation between the government of Murmansk Oblast and the company “Gazprom Geologorazvedka” took place within the trip. As the governor of Murmansk Oblast Marina Kovtun says, the fact of singing of such agreement once more confirms: the largest Russian oil and gas companies scrutinize Murmansk Oblast as a promising supporting area for introduction of its projects on the arctic shelf. Marine geological prospecting and extraction, especially in the Arctic, are difficult and expensive work. It requires for safe, reliable supply base having developed infrastructure. Thus, the region, the non-freezing Kola Bay and capacities of the port of Murmansk are suitable best of all, as she underlines. As the director general of “Gazprom Geologorazvedka” notes, for the first time in its history the company signed the agreement with the region being on the floating semisubmersible drilling platform at the approach to the arctic gates of Russia. It is big honor and big responsibility to participate in projects that assist to development of the Arctic. On territories, where “Gazprom Geologorazvedka” conducts its activity, the company tries to build effective interaction with the local authorities and the public, following the principle of maximum openness, as he says.
