A tundra-dweller does not need help from volunteers. “The window to the world” for reindeer herders will appear as earlier

For reindeer herders travelling around tundra nothing will change with transition from analog to digital television. If to speak about analog TV, earlier they could watch it only in the zone of coverage of the territory with an analogue waveform, which was broadcasted from a settlement. The director of the department of information technologies and communication of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Kirill Albychev told about it at the online conference in the news agency “Sever-Press”.

“But we can not say that our indigenous peoples of the North, who lead traditional way of life, lag behind the civilization”, said Kirill Albychev. – “They are very much advanced in this regard, and they will not be surprised, we have something to learn from them, especially since they fulfill these operations in severe conditions of the Far North, understanding what and where should be tuned and connected. Therefore, in this case, having a satellite dish (antenna), a terminal, an electric substation, they can also connect a TV set and watch it in those rare hours, when they do not need to struggle against powers of nature”.

The first deputy director of the department Pavel Kosmovskiy confirms that tundra-dwellers have such an opportunity.

“They are able to fine-tune the equipment, unlike masters, without devices, by-eye perfectly orienting in space”, he told. – “Nomads use satellite kits during long-term staying in nomad camps, many acquire “dishes”, knowing that from this operator it needs to take “a dish” with the diameter not less than 90 cm, and from the other – 60 cm are enough, depending on the route of travelling and nomad camps. The closer is to the place of the Earth axis (the North Pole), the larger should be the diameter of “the dish”. (The note: volunteers can help in connecting to digital television).
