A University of Tyumen was included to the University of the Arctic

Tyumen State Oil and Gas University was included to the University of the Arctic.

The decision about including of the higher education institution to this project uniting more than 170 universities and scientific-research institutes of Russia, Finland, Canada, Norway, the USA, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden was taken by the council of the international organization on the sitting in the town Prince George (Canada). The University of the Arctic "without walls" assists to intensive cooperation of its participants, to formation of new knowledge, competences and opportunities, connecting traditional and local systems with modern scientific and educational environment, interacts with northern communities, supporting their educational intentions. Several large projects are fulfilled. The program of interaction "Thematic Networks" is one of them. Owing to its flexibility, it reflects the most important problems of the Arctic, which form the natural basis for development of education and scientific researches, at that, providing optimal structure for receiving and sharing knowledge on the whole North. The Arctic today is the world trend. For Russia it is a new unprecedented economical, technological and social project of the 21st century, as the rector of the Tyumen Oil and Gas University Vladimir Novoselov considers. The Oil and Gas University actively educates personnel for work in the North, science of the university searches for its decisions and technologies for development of extractive fields, transportation of hydrocarbons in northern regions, which are very sensitive to anthropogenic influence. Research and educational platform of the University of the Arctic will assist to perfection of this work, effective and safe development of the Arctic, as he notes. Tyumen State Oil and Gas University can participate in such thematic networks as "Arctic Extractive Industries", "Arctic Geology", "Arctic Engineering" and "Environmental Impact Assessment of Industry Contaminated Areas".
