The visiting session of the committee of the Federation Council on economic policy took place in Tyumen. One of issues the most important for the region "The role of fuel and energy complex of Western Siberia in development of economy of Russia" was scrutinized within it.
A famous geologist, the director general of "The Siberian Scientific Analytical Center" Anatoly Brekhuntsov considers it the most significant event. As he underlines in the conversation with the a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press", the attempt to scrutinize fuel and energy complex of Western Siberia in an integrated manner is taken for the first time during 25 years. By his words, a serious document, which will define prospects of development of the region till 2050, should become the result of the conference. By the words of Anatoly Brekhuntsov, during long time specialists of the Siberian Scientific Analytical Center suggest elaborating such program. And it is important to hear the confirmation of such ideas from the chairperson of the upper house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, which also considers necessary to elaborate the complex program on development of Western Siberia till 2030 with the prospect up to 2050. As Anatoly Brekhuntsov considers, it is important that this program should have a serious customer – as the state plan earlier. This is the complex program, and different structures and departments should be involved into its fulfillment. The program should be approved in the government, the State Duma and become the law. Today, everything that touches upon Western Siberia should be scrutinized in an integrated manner. The scientist is still sure that full-scale projects necessarily should be statewide and nationwide. For example, the global project on development of the Yamal peninsula and the shelf near Yamal. More than 50 trillion cubic meters of gas are concentrated on this territory. The present resource assessment on gas extraction is up to 300 milliard cubic meters.
