Archeological monuments of Krasnoselkoup district were included to the register of cultural heritage of the country

By the request from the regional office on protection of objects of cultural heritage, in summer of 2018 the scientific expedition of the Center for ethno-ecological and technological research of Siberia (Tyumen) being headed by Olga Poshekhonova conducted the archeological exploration in the upper reach of the Taz River in Krasnoselkoup district. In the course of the on-site investigation the archeologists identified 8 earlier unknown objects of archeological heritage of different times – from the epoch of the early bronze age to the late middle ages.

In autumn all the found settlements - Kikki-Akki 7-8, Katylmachi 1-2, Aiyogan 1, Pokolka 1, Ratta 1 and Nalimiy Ruchey (“the burbot brook”) - were set under state protection through their inclusion to the List of identified objects of cultural heritage of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. At the end of 2018 for prevention from their damage or destruction the service for state protection of objects of cultural heritage of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug set borders of territories on them, and corresponding data were input to the Unified state register of real estate. This information was given in the press-service of the governor of Yamal.

In spite of the fact that it is necessary to specify chronological and cultural belonging of the newly identified monuments of archeology, it does not lessen their historical and cultural value for enlargement of knowledge about the richest diversity of cultural processes that took place in the arctic region in ancient times. When researchers conduct scientific processing, the collection of the archeological finds will replenish funds of the regional Museum and Exhibition complex of Ivan Shemanovskiy.

Public discussion of acts of state historical and cultural expert examination on the named monuments of archeology was completed in January of 2019. An expert Svetlana Tsembalyuk certified by the ministry for culture of Russia confirmed the low degree of knowledge on the upper and middle reaches of the Taz River in Krasnoselkoup district (in total about 30 objects of archeological heritage were discovered on the territory of the given municipality). The expert underlines that discovery of each new monument on this area is an important scientific event having considerable social significance of original archeological cultures of the Taz River basin.

The state expert assessment department recognizes the positive conclusion as justified, in other words, inclusion of the objects of archeological heritage found in Krasnoselkoup district in 2018 to the unified state register of cultural heritage – monuments of history and culture of peoples of the Russian Federation as a monument of archeology of the federal significance.
