Baltiysky Zavod will build two new nuclear-powered icebreakers for the Arctic
"Baltiysky Zavod, JSC" (the Baltic Shipyard) won the open tender for building of the first and the second nuclear-powered icebreakers of project 2220, as IA "Arktika-Info" informs.
"Baltiysky Zavod, JSC" is the only company, which gave the request. Thus, the shipyard received the order automatically. Signing of the contract is planned for the coming days. The icebreakers should be built till the 25th of December of 2019 and the 25th of December of 2020. The price of the contract makes about 84 milliard and 400 million rubles. These ships are purposed for permanent exploitation in the Arctic, in particular, in the Barents Sea, the Pechora Sea and the Kara Sea and also in mouths of Siberian rivers.
