Bovanenkovo will reach the project level of extraction in 115 milliard cubic meters of gas per year

Gas extraction in the largest extractive field of Yamal – Bovanenkovo will reach the full capacity. Commissioning of the third – the final gas production facility took place. The second line of the gas pipeline “Ukhta-Torzhok” was also input to operation in parallel. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also participated in the ceremony in the videoconference mode.

He thanked everyone, who had participated in creation of these important industrial and infrastructural projects – engineers, geologists, gas workers, builders, who had created the modern gas extraction center of Russia on the Yamal peninsula from ground zero in severe climate conditions.

“The third gas production facility will increase production rate of Bovanenkovo up to the project level in 115 milliard cubic meters of gas per year. Without exaggeration, the figure is colossal. If to compare, it is one fourth of current annual production of Gazprom”, as the press service of the Kremlin quotes the President.

As he underlines, such mega-projects as Bovanenkovo are very significant for national economy, they create working places, increase quality of life.

“We speak about gas production in Yamal. I would like to remind, reserves of the largest field in Yamal – Bovanenkovo, which we are commissioning in full amount, make 4 trillion 900 milliard cubic meters of gas. At that, development of Yamal is not limited only with Bovanenkovo. Proved gas reserves on the peninsula exceed 16 trillion 700 milliard cubic meters. It is enormous scale. It is planned that extraction amounts here by 2030 will make 310-360 milliard cubic meters of gas”, as Vladimir Putin said.

He reminds that full-scale development of Kharasaveyskoye field will be started in Yamal next year; geological exploration in fields of the Tambey group will be continued in parallel.

“All this shows that our energy and gas industry are actively developing”, the President underlined.

The director general of “Gazprom dobycha Nadym” Sergey Menshikov reported to the head of the state from the place of the event about the drilling rig of the fourth generation of domestic production, which was called “Ekaterina”. It is able to operate in severe arctic conditions, to drill wells of complex configurations, at different angles.

Gazprom uses advanced technical solutions and highly reliable equipment to develop Yamal, as the board of information of the company reports. Thus, modern systems of automation of technological processes and minimally manned technologies are used on all production facilities of Bovanenkovo field. Special emphasis is placed on ensuring of the high level of industrial safety and respect for nature of the Arctic. In particular, the talk is about vapor-liquid cooling units and heat-insulated pipes for wells, due to which the impact on permafrost is reduced to minimum.

“The launch of the third production facility in Bovanenkovo is an important milestone in history of Russian gas industry. All key production objects were input to operation in the main field of Yamal. Gas production here will be continued till the year of 2128. We took one more step towards implementation of the state task on creation of the country’s main gas production center in the Arctic”, the chairman of the board of Gazprom Aleksey Miller said.
