By the end of the year the National Guard of the Russian Federation will take nine Arctic sea ports under protection

By the end of 2020 nine Arctic sea ports will be taken under protection of Rosgvardiya (the National Guard of the Russian Federation). It was stated by the director of the Federal National Guard Troops Service - commander-in-chief of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, Army General Viktor Zolotov at the extended sitting of the board of the National Guard of the Russian Federation in Moscow. Its participants summed up the results of activity of Rosgvardiya in 2019 and clarified the tasks for 2020.

In particular, commander-in-chief noted that the troops had fulfilled the tasks set by the state program “Socioeconomic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation”, what allowed maintaining the pace of formation and modernization of the non-stationary system for protection of seaports of the Northern Sea Route. Thus, reception of the first floating nuclear power plant “Akademik Lomonosov” in waters of the sea port of Pevek in Chukotka under protection of the troops became a significant event last year. This year it is planned to complete retrofitting of the port of Sabetta in Yamal with a mobile complex reinforced also with marine and amphibious components, as the press service of the department reports. By the end of 2020 nine Arctic sea ports will be under protection of Rosgvardiya.
