“Christophe de Margerie” delivered the first consignment of LNG to Great Britain

The tanker “Christophe de Margerie” arrived to Great Britain with the first consignment of liquefied natural gas from the plant “Yamal LNG”. The data of the global positioning system of ships confirmed it.

Now the tanker is in the port of Harwich. Previously the system showed that the port of the Isle of Grain was the endpoint of the route of the tanker. A large LNG regasification terminal is situated there. The tanker was supposed to arrive there on the 28th of December. There is no regasification terminal in Harwich, therefore, the ship will continue its journey, and the endpoint of the route may change, as the agency of economic information “Prime” informs. Earlier NOVATEK announced that the first consignment of LNG would go to the Asian market; the Chinese company CNPC was called a possible buyer. However, after the startup of “Yamal LNG” the head of NOVATEK Leonid Mikhelson informed that the first consignment would arrive to “Novatek Gas & Power”. Later, the company announced that the consignment would be shipped to the trading affiliated company of Malaysian Petronas (Petronas LNG UK Limited). “Yamal LNG” fulfills the project of construction of the plant on production of liquefied natural gas on resource base of the South-Tambey field. The first production line was started up this year on the 8th of December.
