Cinematographers from Yamal participated in the film festival "Argish"

The first festival of films about indigenous peoples of the Arctic "Argish" was finished in Naryan-Mar (Nenets Autonomous Okrug). Cinematographers from Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Surgut, Salekhard and Alaska participated in its work.

Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was represented by the director of the film studio "Khanavey" Artur Ryabitsev, the director of the film studio "Ilebts" Mikhail Okotetto, the chief of the association of animation films "Myniku" Mikhail Korobov and an actress of the regional Center for national cultures Yelena Ufimtseva. On the day of opening of the festival Mikhail Korobov conducted master-classes on computer animation for students of the regional pedagogical college. Artur Ryabitsev presented the full documentary film about Nenets nomads "Fantastic Tundra Journey" for inhabitants of Naryan-Mar. The studio "Ilebts" acquainted the audience to the project of the ecological serial film "Nenets calendar", the presentation of which took place in a specially equipped "Red Choum" right within conducting of the traditional sports spring competitions of reindeer herders, which coincided in time with conducting of the festival "Argish". Yelena Ufimtseva sang traditional songs in Nenets language. All the cinematographers from Yamal received memorable presents and diplomas "For personal contribution to preservation and popularization of culture of indigenous peoples of the Arctic". By the information given to a correspondent of IA "Sever-Press" by Mikhail Korobov, the film festival "Argish" became an interesting and unforgettable event in life of Naryan-Mar. It acquainted people of the subarctic region not only with classics and novelties of arctic cinematography but also with long-waited premieres. The film "White Yagel" (White reindeer moss) became one of such premieres. Its creation took place on the territory of Yamal last March. The general producer of the film and the director of the company "DCfilm" Svetlana Dalskaya in details told the audience about severe weather conditions, in which the film "White Yagel" had been created. The film is based on literature works by the Nenets woman-writer Anna Nerkagi famous in Yamal. The documentary film-makers Ivan Golovnev from Yekaterinburg and Olga Korniyenko from Surgut presented films about indigenous peoples living on the territory of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.
