Development of a new oil stratum was started in Novoportovskoye field

In Novoportovskoye field the company “Gazprom Neft” completed drilling of the first exploitation well on the NP-8 stratum.

The total length of its borehole makes 4.2 kilometers, including a horizontal sector - 1.45 kilometers. The received gushing flow of oil confirms calculations of geologists about prospects of development of this horizon. The NP-8 stratum, which is being input to industrial operation, will provide about 25 percent of oil extraction in Novoportovskoye field in the next three years. During the entire period of operation of the field more than 10 percent of the whole oil of Novy Port will be extracted from this horizon. The NP-8 stratum is the second by production rate; NP-4 stratum, which is being developed, contains main oil reserves, as the press-service of “Gazprom oil” informs. The well was constructed by the specialists of the company “Gazpromneft-Yamal” at support of experts of the scientific and technical center of “Gazprom Neft”. Till the end of this year it is planned to drill 14 oil wells in Novoportovskoye field on the NP-8 stratum, and 50 wells - till the end of 2019. Novoportovskoye is one of the largest oil and gas fields being developed on the Yamal Peninsula. It is located behind the Polar Circle far away from transport pipeline infrastructure. Recoverable reserves of Novoportovskoye field of categories C1 and C2 make more than 250 million tonnes of oil and condensate and 320 milliard cubic meters of gas with consideration of Paleozoic sediments. In 2014 “Gazprom Neft” completed the program of drilling within experimental-industrial pilot exploitation of the field and started exploitation drilling.
