Divers of Yamal will be looking for “the Loch Ness monster” in the lake with mystical history

Next summer the Regional Diving Federation “White Bear” plans to organize the arctic expedition to Bolshoye Shchuchye and Maloye Shchuchye lakes.

This information was given to a correspondent of the news agency “Sever-Press” by the president of the Federation Leonid Litarov. He notes that it will be very difficult to prepare for the expedition: it is necessary to rent all-terrain vehicles, to prepare outfit. Representatives of the Russian Geographical Society of Khanty-Mansiysk promised to give an inflatable house. “We want to fulfill filming and to find out whether the biggest pike actually lives there. We shall explore the lake and in any case shall find some “Loch Ness monster”, as Leonid Litarov said. Shchuchye Lake is surrounded with the aura of mystery; it is a cult place of indigenous people. Its name is associated with legends about the giant pike living in it; in reality, this species of fish never lived in the lake. Its fish fauna is represented by char, grayling and burbot.
