Dmitriy Kobylkin: the Northern Latitudinal Railway can be built during three-four years

Building of the railroad line "The Northern Latitudinal Railway" can take three-four years.

The project of the Northern Latitudinal Railway (Northern Latitudinal Route) with the length 707 kilometers has been already prepared. This information was given by the acting governor of Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitriy Kobylkin to RIA "Novosti" within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The railroad line "The Northern Latitudinal Railway" will connect the station Obskaya of the Northern Railway with the station Korotchayevo of the Sverdlovsk Railway. Building of the line was initiated by the corporation "Industrial Ural – Polar Ural" (since 2012 – "The Corporation of Development"). The Northern Latitudinal Railway is scrutinized as an alternative route for transportation of products of oil and gas complex – about 21 million tons of cargoes per year. Dmitriy Kobylkin considers that today by its technologies and potential the region in maximum is close to filling in the Northern Sea Route with own products, products of Ural Federal Okrug and other regions of the Russian Federation. In order to export these products, it needs to have a corridor to the port of Sabetta that is being built in Yamal – the railroad line, as Dmitriy Kobylkin notes. According to his words, the project is ready. As he says, it needs to come to building sites and start building process. He does not see any reasons that prevent from start of building this year. Today everyone understands – the Ministry for finances does not object, the Ministry for economic development also supports the project. As the head of Yamal thinks, the project will be fulfilled. As Dmitriy Kobylkin notes, the project stays interesting for investors. The project is interesting and ambitious but vitally important for Russian economy. Investors are interested in this project because it did not become more expensive in spite of turbulence on the external market. Russian materials, rails, locomotive power and human resources are used at its building, as Dmitriy Kobylkin notes.
