All of them bravely fought for peace and freedom of their Motherland. Each fourth – 228 – did not come back. 1881 died on battle fields, 172 were gone missing, 228 died of wounds in hospitals. 8 people of Yamal were awarded with the highest military award – the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
